Wicked Women, Wicked Men and Wicket Keepers (All The Mad Men)

It started with the wicked satire and medieval punk(!) rhythms of the 'Chevy Chase' EP and peaks with Blyth Power's debut album. Sadly although they've got their committed audience the 'C-86 spotlight' has yet to be trained on their feisty rumbustious songs - a result no doubt of the lack of a real pockethole to put the group in. Singer, writer and drummer Josef, Britain's most articulate train and cricket enthusiast, has fused folk and a punky guitar-pop - close to The Undertones, strangely enough - and laid down tales of ... well, women, men and wicket keepers!
Musically I reckon Blyth Power don't stretch themselves enough
but 'Wicked Women' is enough evidence of their charms. Oh, and you don't need either a finger in your ear, or a leather jacket to appreciate them either.
